Community Guidelines
Last Updated: June 16, 2025
Hi! We’re so glad you’re here! We hope you will join us in our mission to bring people together and make new friends. Before you do, there are a few rules you should know about. By using Pie, you agree to these Community Guidelines (the “guidelines”), which are part of our Terms of Service.
Who can join Pie
We welcome people from all backgrounds to join Pie. We do require, however, that you be at least 18 years old. In addition, to keep our community safe, we may deny access to those who have previously been banned from Pie or engaged in dangerous or criminal behavior on or off Pie.
What we expect of all users
We expect everyone who uses Pie (“Users”), including those just browsing, those who attend events (“Joiners”), or those who host events (“Hosts” or “Creators”), to act with kindness and respect to others. We will not tolerate any behavior that threatens the safety of our community or uses our services to engage in harm. Engaging in violating behavior could lead to the termination of your account.
The following rules apply to anyone who uses Pie
- Be Yourself. We expect users to be honest about who they are. Use your own name and photographs. A nickname is OK, but don’t pretend to be someone you’re not. Don’t impersonate others, and do not make up a fake identity. Don’t create more than one account, and if you are banned from Pie, don’t try to create another account to circumvent that ban.
- Be Kind. Harassment, bullying, and hate speech are prohibited. Never use Pie to engage in unkind behavior.
- Don’t engage in bullying, name-calling, or other attempts to ostracize or humiliate others.
- If someone asks you to stop contacting them, either online or in person, please respect their wishes. Respecting people’s boundaries is critical to everyone’s comfort while using Pie.
- Never use slurs or harmful stereotypes, and never demean someone because of their race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or veteran status.
- Respect the privacy of others. Don’t share others’ personally identifiable information (PII), such as social security numbers, private phone numbers, personal identification, or private medical information. Don’t share private communications or photos of others without their permission.
- Don’t engage in illegal behavior. Don’t use Pie to engage in illegal behavior, including gang activity, the sale of illicit drugs, or the promotion of illegal goods or activities. Do not use Pie to recruit others to engage in illegal activity.
- Don’t engage in sexual harassment or sexually explicit behavior. This is not the place to share pornography or engage in sexual solicitation.
- Do not upload nudity, sexually explicit imagery or text, and do not sexually harass other people using Pie. If someone tells you they’re not interested, take the hint.
- Do not, under any circumstances, share intimate photos of others without their consent or threaten or extort others using intimate imagery. If we learn you have engaged in this type of behavior, we will immediately terminate your account.
- Don’t engage in harmful, violent, or extremist behavior. This is something we take very seriously. Engaging in any of these harms may lead to the immediate termination of your account, and where required, escalation to law enforcement.
- Never use our services to engage in exploitation or abuse of kids (people under the age of 18), including sharing child sexual exploitation or abuse imagery (CSEAI) or any other exploitative, abusive, or predatory behavior towards kids.
- Never engage in violent behavior towards other people or animals, including threats, incitement or glorification of violence. Don’t share violent imagery or gore.
- Never use Pie to promote or engage in terrorist or violent extremist behavior, including promoting or recruiting for terrorist or extremist organizations.
- Don’t steal other’s intellectual property. Pie complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), which means if owners of original works or intellectual property send us proper notice that someone is copying their work without their permission, we will remove the offending content and take action against the infringing account. See our Terms of Service for more details.
For Joiners
- Do your due diligence. Our goal is to help you find cool plans (also called “events”) and awesome people with whom you can attend them, but please be sure to do your own research on the Host, venue, and event details to make sure they’re right for you. Use common sense when meeting new friends. While we expect everyone to follow the rules, we do not pre-screen events or users to make sure they comply with our policies.
- Be respectful of Event venues. Please follow any rules set by the Host or venue. Clean up after yourself, as appropriate, and use care with furniture or equipment that doesn’t belong to you.
- Be respectful to other Joiners. All the rules we mentioned above apply just as much in person as they do online. If we find out that you have been engaging in harmful or disrespectful behavior that violates these guidelines, we may take appropriate action against your account.
- Purchasing tickets to Events. Some of our Hosts charge for their events. When you buy a ticket, you’re supporting a Host in your community! Cool, right? Be sure to read the description and details of the event carefully before purchasing a ticket. Pie is not able to offer refunds (except if the host cancels the event).
For Hosts (also known as Creators)
- Be honest about your Event. Your reputation is important, not to mention critical to your success. Be honest about your venue location and accommodations, as well as the details of your event. If we find out that your event is materially different than advertised, we may take action against your account or issue a refund to Joiners at your expense. We know sometimes things don’t go as planned, and that’s OK, but don’t deceive potential Joiners about your event.
- Charge a fair price and be transparent about costs. If you plan to sell tickets to your event, make sure to set a price that is reasonable for what you are offering. If there are additional costs or fees that will be charged at the venue, be sure to disclose that information as well. We don’t tolerate scams, fraud, or taking advantage of others.
- Don’t discriminate. Discrimination, differential treatment, or refusal of service based on any of the protected characteristics listed above (race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or veteran status) is counter to our values as a company and a violation of these guidelines. If we find out Hosts are engaging in this type of behavior, we may take action against your account, up to and including termination.
While these guidelines provide examples of the types of harms we consider to be violative, we reserve the right to take action against any behavior that threatens the safety of our community or uses our services to engage in harm, even if that behavior is not specifically listed above.
Disputes
Pie does not mediate disputes between Hosts and Joiners, nor do we offer refunds where an event does not meet a Joiner’s expectations. Please carefully review event details before making any commitments.
We do offer refunds if a Host cancels their event. If a host cancels an event and you would like a refund, please contact us at support@pumpkinpie.com.
If you feel that a Host is misrepresenting themselves or their event, or otherwise violating these guidelines, please let us know at support@pumpkinpie.com.
How we enforce these guidelines
When enforcing these guidelines, we may consider both online and offline behavior while using our services, as reported to us. We may also consider the severity of the harm and the circumstances of the case. You agree to cooperate with any investigations we may conduct and provide any information we request in pursuing that investigation. Pie may take any enforcement action or remedy it sees fit, in our sole discretion, including but not limited to:
- Issuing a warning;
- Removing content from our platform;
- Temporarily suspending your account;
- Permanently banning your account; and/or
- Another remedy in our sole discretion.
If you believe that an enforcement decision has been made against you in error, you may write to us to appeal the decision within 30 days of the enforcement at support@pumpkinpie.com. Please include the phone number and email address (if applicable) associated with your Pie account, as well as details as to why you believe our decision was incorrect. As with all enforcement decisions, the granting of an appeal is at Pie’s sole discretion. You are bound by our final decision. Creating a duplicate account to circumvent our decision is a violation of these guidelines and our Terms of Service.
Understanding Pie’s Limits as a Platform
While we expect everyone to comply with these Community Guidelines, we do not pre-screen users or events. We cannot guarantee that other users will comply with our guidelines or Terms of Service or that our platform will be free of violating content. We encourage you to report any violations to us at support@pumpkinpie.com, If you do not wish to be contacted by another user, please block them from contacting you by using the blocking tool in the app.
