Hosts (also known as “Creators”; referred to herein as “Hosts”) may be charged for using some of Pie’s services. This Fees and Payments Policy explains your fees and taxes and how to pay them. This policy is part of our Terms of Service.
In order to charge for tickets to events (also referred to as “plans”) or other services, you must register for a payment account (also referred to as a “connected account”) via Pie’s third party payments processor, Stripe. Pie uses Stripe to collect fees and process payments to and from Hosts, as well as comply with security, tax, and other legal obligations. By using our services, you agree to use Stripe as your payment processor as well. You also agree that you have reviewed and agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Services Agreement (collectively, the “Stripe Agreements,” which Stripe may modify from time to time) and any other required third party agreement, if applicable.
You will be required to provide identification and bank account information to Stripe in order to set up your payment account. You authorize Pie to share your personal and business information with Stripe for the purpose of facilitating payment services. You agree that all information you submit is truthful, accurate, and complete, and you will promptly notify us of any changes. If Pie receives notice that your content or activity violates the Stripe Agreements, we may at our sole discretion take action against your account to comply with the Stripe Agreements. Such actions may include canceling a transaction, disabling event listings, or suspending or terminating your ticketing privileges.
Pie may charge the following types of fees. Please note that all fees are listed exclusive of any taxes that may apply. All fees are non-refundable.
Ticket Transaction Fees
Pie may collect a flat fee for each ticket, plus a percentage of the ticket price (collectively, “transaction fees”). Pie may update the transaction fees at any time by revising the pricing listed on our Pricing Page.
Hosts determine each ticket price. Pie’s transaction fees will be added to the Host’s chosen ticket price, and the total price is what will be charged to and paid by Joiners. (Please remember that where relevant, a sales tax may also be added to the total ticket price owed by the Joiner.)
Other Fees
Pie may collect additional fees or sums that it incurs as a result of Host’s actions, including fees related to cancellations, chargebacks, or fraud, as described below under the Refunds, Cancellations, and Chargebacks section.
You will receive payouts via Stripe within five business days after the completion of your event. In some cases, deposits to your bank account could be temporarily delayed by an issue at Pie, Pie’s third-party service providers, or a Host’s bank. We’ll do our best to communicate with any affected Host as soon as we can.
Pie will automatically deduct any fees owed to Pie from your bank account. If we believe that a Host’s actions have resulted in or may result in joiner disputes, chargebacks, increased risk of fraud, or other claims, then we may, in order to protect the security and integrity of our platform, put a hold or deposit delay on a Host’s payment account. If we place a hold or deposit delay on a Host’s account, we’ll do our best to communicate with the affected Host as soon as we can. Pie is not obligated to refund any fees or reimburse any expenses due to holds or delayed deposits.
Sales Taxes. In certain jurisdictions, Pie may be obligated to collect sales tax on Hosts’ events. Where applicable, Pie will calculate any relevant sales taxes, which will be added to the total price charged to Joiners. Pie will then collect and remit the tax, as specified by state and local laws.
Note: Pie calculates relevant taxes based on the location of the event, as stated by the Host in the event listing.
Taxes on Host’s Earnings. Hosts may be required to pay income taxes on earnings over a certain amount that they make on Pie. Pie will work with its payment processor to issue a 1099 to Hosts where applicable. Pie and its payment processor may request tax information from Hosts in order to comply with its tax obligations. See Stripe Connect for more information. Please understand that Hosts are still solely responsible for understanding their tax obligations and paying any applicable taxes related to income they make from conducting transactions on Pie.
If a Host cancels an event, they will be liable to Pie for any payment processing or other fees incurred by Pie as a result. Pie is also entitled to recoup any ticket sales made by the Host in order to refund the cost of those tickets to Joiners. If there are insufficient funds to cover the amount of the refund, the balance will be debited from the Host’s bank account.
Pie also reserves the right to refund buyers and recoup such refunded amounts from the Host where the Host has violated Pie’s Terms of Service, including Pie’s Community Guidelines.
In the event of a Joiner chargeback, Pie reserves the right to recoup funds from the Host associated with the chargeback.
Pie may recoup from the Host any amounts previously paid out, as well as any fees incurred by Pie as a result of Host’s actions, including but not limited to transaction fees, chargeback fees, processing fees, payouts, or other funds. This includes the right to debit Host’s bank account or adjust future payouts to offset the amount owed. Hosts acknowledge that this provision is intended to protect Pie from losses and is a material part of this agreement. If you have any questions or believe you have been charged a fee in error, please reach out to support@pumpkinpie.com.
